Walker Wetlands

Concession 10, Part Lot 11
Concession 10, Part Lot 12

158.0 acres total

Geographic Township of Derby, now Township of Georgian Bluffs

This property, located at the headwaters of the Pottawatomi River, was purchased in 1996 from Robert and Shirley Walker. It encompasses a wetland and retired farm pasture that support a diverse array of resident and migratory wildlife species. Adjacent to a 78-acre parcel owned by the Grey Sauble Conservation Authority, this area presents an excellent opportunity for a joint project to enhance its ecological value.

The Sydenham Conservation Foundation is currently preparing a master plan for the Walker Wetlands. This plan aims to enhance wildlife habitat while considering existing agricultural uses on surrounding lands, ensuring a balanced approach to conservation and land management.
